Introduction
Hsing Kuo University, founded by the famous educator, Mr. Jin-Lin Cho, was inaugurated in August, 2000. As the world of business has become globally competitive, enterprise managers shall have to be educated to equip with qualities such as professional management techniques and a global vision, skills in foreign languages and communications, and ability to manipulate information technology to promote work efficiency, the University is established to offer programs toward achieving these qualities. To accomplish these endeavors, three concentrations of programs are offered: Management, Foreign Languages, and Information Technologies. The aim is to integrate the faculty of the three concentrations to offer an intramural, comprehensive education for the student. Programs of Study
There are currently no all-English programs, yet we are endeavoring to set up the programs to meet the special needs of international students. Financial AidYon En Award: This award, NT$10,000, is offered for those day school freshmen who rank within the top 40% upon entering their department. Elite Award: This award, NT$15,000, is offered for those students who have completed a 20-hour of volunteer work and have successfully earned a B average. The university also offers various part-time on-campus jobs for the students who need the financial assistance. Cost of StudyCurrently undergraduate students pay approximately NT$45,000 to NT$47,000 per semester for tuition and fees. Books and supplies cost about NT$3,000 to NT$5,000 per semester. Housing and Living CostsInternational students are eligible for on-campus housing. Currently the University houses one boys¡¦ dormitory and one girls¡¦ dormitory. For undergraduate students, each room accommodates six students, which costs about NT$18,000 a year per student. The University also sets up rooms for handicapped students. Residents have access to the Internet services for an extra NT$1,200. For safety, residents are strictly required to return to their rooms at 11:00 p.m. Living expenses range from NT$10,000 to NT$ 15,000 per month. LocationThe University, adjacent to Tainan major business and industry zones and neighboring Tainan Technology Park and Sciences Industry Park, is located at An Nan district in Tainan City. The university intends to educate the students to manpower both of the adjacent high-tech industrial parks and seeks for their cooperation for offering on-job and on-site student training. ApplyingInternational Application filing dates are from February 1 to April 30. Applicants should have the following qualifications: 1.They must be non-overseas Chinese. 2. They must not be permanent residents of Taiwan. 3. They must have a high school diploma. All applicants are required to submit a completed application form, a copy of their diploma, a copy of their official transcripts, two letters of recommendation, a record of medical examination, a study plan in Chinese or English, and a proof of financial status. It has evolved into its burgeoning stage under the mutual endeavors of the students, the staff and faculty, and the support of the board of Directors over the past few years. Currently, there are fourteen departments: Information Management, Business Administration, Finance Administration, Public Finance and Taxation, Accounting Information, International Business, Industrial Engineering and Management, Japanese, English, Information Science, Cultural and Educational Administration, Real Estate Management, Electronic Commerce, and Applied Internet Science. More departments and programs will be gradually set up in the coming years to meet the needs of the development of this nation. The missions we intend to carry out are: to inculcate our students professional knowledge as well as moral education; to strengthen our students¡¦ language and information skills to meet the needs of the society; to recruit excellent teachers to promote instruction and research; to set up excellent buildings and facilities for efficient and effective campus management, instruction, learning, and research; to seek cooperation of enterprises to make graduates enter job market as quickly as possible; and finally to offer extension programs for on-job training for the people in the south. Finally, I would like to express my gratitude as I have the honor of being entrusted by the Board of Directors, the students, and the staffs and faculty.
